What an ambitious and incredible adventure it was to bring my Psykinetic team together with Riley and his wonderful family (Clint, Casey, Chase and Paige) for this ABC documentary produced by The Feds productions who I worked with for a year end-to-end to write and pitch this documentary and eventually bring it to life. We had one month to film it as well as create the technology and get it all working with Riley so the challenge was huge.
Nick and I had some all-nighters towards the end there and our awesome friend Darren Lowman of Dreamfit joined us to work through some last minute technology challenges too. But much more than what we achieved technically, was the impact it has had with our viewers. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and has spanned many demographics and age groups, best of all was the feedback we’ve had from a vast range of schools. The journey we took our audience on was very well received, from ideation through to collaborative creation through to testing and iterating. We hit many problems and roadblocks throughout this journey and pushed through them all and Riley’s massive efforts being so crucial. We were all so focused on the big goals we set out to achieve together. There are many themes and lessons in empathy, thinking big and thinking different, the power of friendship, determination, innovation, collaboration, and resilience.
